Drinking and Driving - Know These Tips Before You Leave The House

Drinking and driving is never a good idea. You should never drive drunk. However, there are times when you may have a glass of wine at a restaurant, or a beer at a friend’s house, or some champagne at a wedding. If you have any amount of alcohol in your system, and you are drinking and driving, you are risk of getting a DUI. However, there are some things you can do to reduce your risk.

Use a Designated Driver

This is a cliché for sure. But it’s your best bet. One of your buddies doesn’t have to sit on the sidelines. You can have someone come and pick you up, or have a kid brother drive you to and from your place of drinking. Whoever it is, just get someone else to drive who’s not drinking and driving.

Wait Before Driving Home

Time is your best friend when you’ve been drinking. When it’s time to leave, stall. That’s right. Go to the restroom, make a phone call, have a smoke, whatever. Just take your time and allow your alcohol level to come down before drinking and driving. Try to wait at least an hour after your last drink.

Oh, and while you’re busy stalling, have a glass of water. Water helps process the alcohol in your system. It’ll also help reduce and residual effects from the alcohol the next day – you know, a hangover.

Take A Cab, Train, Plane…Just Don’t Drive

Spring for the few bucks it’ll take to get a ride home. Sure, it’s an inconvenience, but it’s a lot less of an inconvenience than if you went drinking and driving and got arrested. After all, if you catch a cab, you’ll be sleeping in your own bed tonight. If you’re drinking and driving and you get arrested, you’ll be sleeping on a bench in a holding cell. I’d recommend the cab.

Drinking and driving is never a good idea. However, when you find yourself out after you’ve been drinking, take some steps to minimize your risks of getting a DUI.

If you had a Drink and got Over, would you think what to do?

A businessman took some clients for tasting wine, hoping to land a huge account. While tasting wine, he spit the wine out. He got dragged over. The cop smelled booze, arrested and handcuffed him in front of his own clients. When they examined him after, he blew 1% almost stone sober. The man lost the account and had to fight the DUI.

It happens all of the time. If you don’t know how to play and win the game, you’re toast.
